September 2007 News Update.
Hello folks,
All my good intentions to write a newsletter in summer went by the board again. I was too busy writing as well as gadding about to settle down to it. Book news first.
You will see from the cover on my home page that I did manage to finish “When The Clouds Go Rolling By” and that it is coming out this year after all. It is something I’m really pleased about and my local bookshop and library are interested in doing an event together where I’ll do a talk and signing over some light refreshments. I’m also delighted to have finished and had accepted “Enslaved By the Witch’s Daughter”, although, the title has been changed to “Rebel Lady, Convenient Wife”. I’m planning on the next HMB being set in Scotland, probably in the late fifteenth century or early sixteenth. This after visiting Scotland with my sister Irene at the beginning of July. It was a different kind of holiday to my usual activity ones with John. We travelled by coach and saw lots of lovely places and the natives were very welcoming. Some lovely scenery:

In August I also visited my niece Linda and her partner Graham in Essex with John. Despite the terrible weather we still managed to get out and about and visited Suffolk, Sussex and Kent. We saw the site of one of Constable’s paintings The Haywain and spent a whole day in the beautiful grounds of Wisley, the Royal Horticultural Gardens. Fantastic and well worth the £7 entry fee. On the return journey home we called in at Tatton Park and I really enjoyed wandering round the house. It was really interesting, as was Anglesey Abbey, near Cambridge, on the journey to Essex. We really do have some lovely places in our country.

On our return I had to get down to work on “Tilly’s Story” (my next saga) - deadline is the 1st January and I have finished the first draft and have started the rewrite. But I’m now going to have to break off because I’m off to Rhodes with John and am looking forward to some sun, swimming and reading for relaxation, as well as good food and drink. The laptop is going with me but I don’t plan on doing much work: make a few notes perhaps to do with the next book.
Oh, I must also mention the lovely time I had with the Manchester Mobile Libraries in connection with the North West promotion Time to Read and Pure Passion. It was great fun and really interesting meeting the librarians and readers.
Love June.
